Day 4 - The rolling "rest" day

Following yesterday's lengthy ride and hefty climbs, today's ride looked on paper to be far nicer. And to start with, that's certainly how it felt! We followed a lovely cycle path along the river Avon from Bath towards Bristol. Riding as an almost full compliment of 8 we rolled through the first stop in no time, and were all still feelings very fresh. From there we returned to yesterdays 6 and continued to take it easy so as not to arrive too early for lunch with an MS group.

A significant detour was taken to try and quench Danny's coffee craving at a lovely bakery just before the Severn Bridge. We briefly rolled in and out of Wales and then into Glostershire for our lunch.

At this point the sun was strong and we were staring to feel its effects. We were particularly drained as we spent most of the afternoon climbing. Mercifully the clouds came over later and it made the remaining miles a bit more comfortable, but it soon became a race against the rain.

We survived with only a few drops on us, and once we had recovered at the church in Hereford, we hiked across the city to use the facilities at a local gym. Then home for food, rest and inevitably another episode of something called Love Island.

Bring on tomorrow
