2) Air resistance is negligible
Today was a very early start after not the best night's sleep. I decided to ease up after yesterday and rode with Laura and Danny since today is on paper the hardest day of the trip: over 8000 feet of climbing in just over 80 miles through Cornwall and up and over Dartmoor.
The ride through what was left of Cornwall presented several hefty climbs but finished with a fantastic spread put on by the local MS society in Tavistock (although unfortunately I had to pass on the delicious looking pasties for fear of seeing it again later)
However, the worst was yet to come as afternoon Cornwall came an hour long climb all the way up to the very top of Dartmoor, with a hefty headwind on the top for good measure. After such a long climb, the decent (while beautiful) was rather short, and we were joined by several hundred motorcycles taking part in some rally.
Once we were down off dart it was a nice undulating stretch into Exeter where I somehow lost my comrades and faced a 15 mile uphill time trial into the wind to the finish in Honiton.
The day was finished off with an enormous, and delicious ice-cream 👌 Now time to stretch, rest and recover before hopefully an easier day tomorrow.
