Day 1 - The Journey Begins

We were up for a reasonablely timed (8am) start at Lands End, welcomed by a bitter wind. It didn't take too many of the rolling hills to warm up, by which point I'd found myself on my own. I found a nice rhythm and without realiaing just kept motoring on all the way (46m) to Ladock through some beautiful countryside in the glorious sunshine.
After a quick loo break in the smallest village store I've ever seen, I battled some of the bigger hills of the day to Lostwithel, mercifully with some cloud cover for protection. I arrived at the finish stop before lunch, but had unfortunately left my packed lunch in the support van which was 30 miles back up the road, along with my shoes and jumpers, so settled in with a punnet of grapes to wait for the three hour wait for lunch (which by this point was early dinner) and a shower. Time for an early night before the 'hardest day' of the tour tomorrow.
